Lexware, in its own window.

The desktop app is the same Lexware you use in the browser, with a dock icon and no address bar. Your matters, drafts and documents stay where they are; nothing is stored on the laptop. The app checks for a newer build each time it opens and installs it itself.

These builds are not yet code-signed, so each system asks once before opening an app it has not seen before.

macOS — open the .dmg, drag Lexware to Applications, then open it. If macOS says it cannot verify the app, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. This happens once.
Windows — run the installer. If SmartScreen shows a notice, choose More info, then Run anyway. The MSI is for firms that install software centrally.

Updates arrive through the app itself and are signed by Lexware; the app refuses any build whose signature does not match the key it shipped with.
